Product Owner

Combining business analysis, quality assurance, and project management functions, the Product Owner serves as the voice of the customer and is responsible for working with the Operations Manager to ensure product integrity through prioritization of the product backlog and enhancements, clarity of requirements and oversight of each software release. The BA/QA individual will possess an in-depth understanding of the business domain and customer needs to define/understand new software requirements yet also have deep technical expertise in testing including the ability to write test cases. This individual is a critical member of the cross-functional team who facilitates communication and synergy – both internally among the team and externally with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides high clarity on client business processes to the Cross-Functional Team (CFT).
  • Attends release planning/scrum meetings.
  • Facilitates customer acceptance of new features/enhancements.
  • Develops and/or manages Project Budgets, Schedule and Quality for each project they are assigned.
  • Proactively escalates any risks to scope, schedule, or quality to the Operations Manager.
  • Manages workload effectively to ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Analyzes data, thinks critically, quantitatively and qualitatively.
  • Develop test plans, test cases, test scripts and test reports on multiple projects of varying size.
  • Perform testing on various software systems.
  • Validate that user expectations are achieved during the testing process.
  • Review user requirements documents to ensure that requirements are testable.
  • Understands personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets.
  • Follows Farragut policies, upholds professional standards, and performs all work in a manner respectful of others.
  • Takes an active part in driving their EPaD (Employee Performance and Development).

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Basic experience with analytical tools (e.g. spreadsheet, word processing, database)
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to work overtime and irregular hours when needed
  • Ability to clearly communicate information through an appropriate method, reads and interprets complex information; talks with clients and listens well
  • Follows detailed procedures and ensures accuracy in documentation and data
  • Ability to travel up to 15%
  • Workers’ Comp knowledge is a plus, but is not required
