DOC-Locator - Linking Documents to Web-based GISFarragut Systems, Inc. introduces DOC-Locator, a product and system integration offering that links documents to features on a map. The document management system is powered by Open Text DM TM document management system. The Internet map service (IMS) in DOC-Locator is provided ESRI's ArcIMS TM product, a Web-based Geographic Information System (GIS).
DOC-Locator allows users to access documents contained within a Hummingbird DM document management system through a Web-based mapping interface. For example, the user can select a map feature of interest, such as a parcel of land or a pipeline, and display the documents that are associated with that feature. The user can then access those specific documents for viewing. Maps can also be accessed through the Hummingbird DM Webtop standard interface. As documents are added in DM, for example, they can be linked to the map features. When documents are displayed in DM, the associated map features can be displayed, on a map, by simply pressing a MapIt icon. With DOC-Locator, the user can:

DOC-Locator provides the following features:
In addition, DOC-Locator can be customized based on the specific data and document management needs of the organization. The DOC-Locator enhancements are shown in Figures 1 through 3. Figure 1 depicts the enhancements to the DM Webtop interface. Please note that the standard Webtop version output (see Figure 1) has a MapIt column added. The MapIt column will contain one of two icons, Mapped and Link to Map.
After pressing the document icon in the MapIt column, DOC-Locator then depicts the associated map feature. An example of a Web-based map along with the highlighted feature is depicted in Figure 2. From this map interface, the user can then display the associated documents by pressing the List Documents button. Figure 3 depicts the DM Webtop document display after the List Documents button has been selected. In this example, the selected map feature is a land parcel, and the associated document is a Water Usage Memo from the Water District. Please note that if multiple documents were associated with this parcel, then all of the documents would be displayed within the document display window. Figure 2.
